Founder, Project Lead, User Experience Designer | June 2014 - Present
Led a team of developers and other volunteers at Chi Hack Night to create an app that crowdsources resident reports that high-density apartment buildings in Chicago are NOT providing recycling services. Conducted stakeholder interviews, engaged community partners to develop and validate the crowdsourced reporting concept. Created prototypes, conducted usability testing, and refined the app.

Since My Building Doesn't Recycle's release in February 2015, the site has over 3,500 individual reports from over 2,400 unique addresses. My Building Doesn't Recycle has been covered in many media outlets including WBEZ's Tech Shift and Curious City, as well as The Chicago Tribune and NBC 5. In response to the large volume of resident reports collected on the website, in July 2016, the City of Chicago updated the 20-year old high-density recycling law that it had not been enforcing. The updated law went into effect in January 2017 and the city created a new 311 service code that residents can use to report that their buildings are not providing recycling services.
